John's Iceman clone

Welcome to the newest addition to this website.  Here you can find step by step pictures and video's of a Shredswell in the making.  From raw materials all the way to polishing the finish, you'll see an instrument come to life.

John plays guitar for Ratman and the 8 Ball Shifters (www.r8s.org).  He was interested in a custom Iceman guitar and I just had to say yes.  I've always loved the styling of the Iceman, and after whipping up a template and a quick prototype (Iceman ), I got started on his.

Here you can see the walnut and mahogany for the 5 piece neck before cutting and planing (top), The neck strips being glued (lower left), and the assembled neck blank clamped up and ready to set (lower right).  The mahogany and walnut construction gives it a beautiful contrast in colors.

Here's some pictures of the neck blank after planing, sawing the profile, and sanding.

This is the mahogany board I chose to use for the sides of the guitar before and after the cuts, clamped and glued, and after gluing.

Here's the body roughly cut to shape.
